Mantz Yorke trained as an industrial metallurgist before taking up a career in teaching. He spent some years as a manager in higher education before turning to educational research focusing on aspects of ‘the student experience’.

When his responsibilities as a carer permit, he enjoys reading and classical music. More actively, he enjoys walking and photographing the interplay of colour, light and texture in varied aspects of the environment.

As well as reflecting his pleasure in the visual, his poetry – which has been published internationally – often draws upon his interests in the physical sciences, politics and the environment. Mantz’s previous collections ‘Voyager’ and ‘Dark Matters’ are published by Dempsey & Windle. He lives in Manchester, England.
