L. S. Schneider

Welcome to the webpages of L. S. Schneider (Luc to you and me). Luc is a French-Dutch writer and behavioural scientist, whose first steps into poetry were taken as a young adult, when faced with the necessity to learn English and adapt to an international environment. While poetry and creative writing have been a central part of his life ever since, Luc dedicated his early student years to the social sciences (economics, psychology) and the understanding of human behaviour. His core academic interests, around the questions of identity, consciousness and the search for happiness and meaning, are important inspirations for his creative work.

At the time of publication, he is finishing his PhD in Psychological and Behavioural Science at the London School of Economics. He studies the relationships between personality, mind wandering and feelings of happiness, anxiety and purpose.

Luc is totally new to erbacce-press, he is one of those who simply submitted an MS with a book proposal which was then (as proposals always are) submitted to the six members of the selection panel and they liked it. Simple as that. Hence Luc, though a relatively unknown poet, was offered a publishing contract.

You can learn a little more about Luc by clicking HERE and you can connect with him via Instagram HERE.

Below the book cover is a photo of Luc together with a brief section from 'And while that is, of course, a lie' which is more than a collection of poems, more than a single poem... a play perhaps, set in acts, but again much more than that... it is DIFFERENT (which is why the erbacce selection panel chose to offer Luc a book-contract)... different and rather beautiful; truly a book that everyone interested in how words work both visually and as communication, that every budding poet should have on their shelves.

If you click on the book cover below it will open a direct link to the poet. Luc will be happy to send you a signed copy of the book or even to answer questions about his poetry and/or poetics (NOTE though; he is a very busy man so a response may take time, be patient) The 'Buy Now' button links direct to PayPal and a small charge (£2.00) will be added to assist p/p in the UK. If you wish to have a copy sent to Europe or anywhere else in the world please email Luc direct first.

  White smoke

The passing cars turn last night’s rain

Into a short trail of white smoke

  That dissipates in the remains

Of the dreams from which I awoke.

  Somnolent, I shake them away,

Without a real sense of where to go –

My bags are packed, as to say

“Maybe you should already know.”

From the centre of the ceiling

The dim glow of the orange light

  Evokes this oddly warm feeling

That the answer is within sight.

And while that is, of course, a lie

Let me believe it for today

  Because it appeases the why

Of walking in the rain yesterday.

If nothing moves outside the window,

I’ll leave before the pavement dries

(if clocks are fast, time is still slow)

  – I need to feed my hungry eyes.

Yes, I’ll figure life out tomorrow.
