Each year submission dates begin at midnight December 31st

Every year on midnight December 31st/January 1st we open for submissions to the annual erbacce-prize for Poetry and entries close on May-day. The prize is open to anyone and and is 100% FREE TO ENTER which is why we attract submissions from all over the world. All submissions are judged blind and there are various prizes on offer;

  • First prize is the publication of the winners poetry collection; a perfect bound edition created by experts at cover design, typesetting and layout.. the cover will also include; 'Winner of the erbacce-prize for Poetry 202xyz' if you want to read the comments about erbacce books click HERE to read what past poets have said. We will also purchase an ISBN, edit and typeset your book working with you at every step, we'll provide the poet with free copies, register every book with major libraries and of course with the ISBN registration service Nielsen, and we will carry the full cost of all this.
  • We will also select one or two, runners-up who will have perfect bound or chap books published by erbacce-press with all the legal-stuff paid for by us as with the winner.
  • There will also be selected FOUR 'featured poets' who will 'STAR' in a twice-annual perfect-bound 96pp journal; see submissions page for more details.
  • Other poets who submit will be included in future journals if they are considered of special merit.

We can't emphasise enough that entry is TOTALLY FREE and the selection panel judge every entry 'blind' so it makes no difference if you are already widely published or are a beginner; your submission will be considered ONLY on the quality of the poetry.

Click HERE for guidelines and to send us your submission
THE 2025 SUBMISSIONS OPEN MIDNIGHT DECEMBER 31st.

erbacce-press offer you, as a writer, a unique concept in publishing including the opportunity to have your book or chap-book published FREE. Submit your poems to us as a book-proposal stating roughly how many pages your poems will occupy in an A5 book or chap-book, please ONLY SUBMIT book proposals AFTER  reading the submission guidelines HERE ...then our panel of six established poets and academics will read them 'blind' (check the panel-members out HERE) , if they like them, we publish them, simple as that... and we also supply the poet with a written contract paying royalties which are more generous than Random House, OUP, Harper-Collins, Faber & Faber or Penguin.

But be aware; during this period, from January through July,
we can not accept book proposals as we shall be VERY
VERY busy; the best time to send a proposal is September
please do not send submissions after September as we will
then be gearing up for the next erbacce-prize.

NOTE: we tend to publish poetry which is radical in form and/or content; keep that in mind.

Our central aims are to ensure that poets get paid for their work and to wage continuous war on parasitical Vanity Publishers and we classify ANY publisher who sets up alleged 'competitions' where a submission-fee or a reading-fee is charged as a vanity-publisher. We will NEVER charge poets to read their work nor will we ever charge a fee for entering the erbacce-prize for poetry. We are a poetry co-operative run by poets; welcome to the family.

NEVER EVER PAY TO HAVE YOUR POETRY READ BY SOME 'EXPERTS'
IN SOME 'ALLEGED' POETRY COMPETITION

erbacce-press sprang from the poetry journal erbacce (it rhymes with ‘apache’ and is of Italian derivation referring to ‘weeds’). All of the erbacce team are established and widely published poets and/or academics involved in creative-writing course at Universities who know from experience how difficult it can be to get work accepted by publishers when your name is unknown; the poetry journal erbacce was established to give a voice to new and radical poets; those whose work may not have been accepted elsewhere. The journal ‘features’ a poet in each edition and the chosen 'featured' poet is interviewed by a member of the team and a selection of their poems are highlighted; wonderful publicity! ...and, as from 2021, the erbacce-journal will be a beautiful, professional, 96 page, perfect-bound, journal.

JOIN US. SUPPORT US. BECOME ONE OF THE FAMILY.
NEVER EVER PAY TO HAVE YOUR POETRY READ AGAIN.
